The first part of the installation (copying files at most) is done without a problem.
The second part after reboot does not proceed. Instead the boot screen of Windows 98 Second Edition with the moving waterfall line at the bottom appears. There is no more progress.

This effect is caused by USB function in the BIOS. To change that perform these steps:

1. Reset the BIOS to the Default settings
2. Find parameter IDE-Mode and configure it as Legacy Mode.
3. Find parameter IRQ9 and assign this to PCI/PNP. This should be the default settings, but check it.
4. Find parameter USB EHCI Handoff and configure it as Disabled.
5. Save the new configuration and reboot the system

The installation of Windows 98 should proceed normally.
